When working with fonts its always important to know whether it’s for personal use only or if you are able to use it commercially. Beyond the fonts that come pre-installed on your computer, there are many websites that you can download them from for free. But just because you can click that download button, doesn’t mean you can just use it for anything. If its free for personal use you can only use it for projects for yourself, if you plan on selling something with that font on it then you need to make sure that font has a commercial use license. While these fonts can be found in many places, in this post I’m going to talk about my favourite site for free fonts for commercial use.

I’m going to share with you something you might not (OK you probably don’t) know about me. I have a *slight* font obsession. I have 978 at time of writing, but that number rises everyday. So maybe it’s slightly more then a slight obsession! I love fonts of all kinds, but my current favorite is anything with swashes and flourishes. They are so versatile and make things so pretty!
I recently discovered an awesome source for fonts, and the good news is, all their freebies come WITH a free commercial license. They also have a lot of other items beyond fonts such as SVGs, other craft files, and mock ups. (All of which you can also find free on their website.). The website I’m talking about is Creative Fabrica. Right now they have an amazing giveaway going on, 300 days of freebies!! I know we all love free stuff. 300 is even better! The included commercial license tops it off! Today is only Day 22 so you still have lots of time to get in on your freebies.
Update: While the 300 days of Freebies promotion is over, Creative Fabrica has started featuring a free font everyday, which can be found on their Daily Gift page.
Some of the free fonts I’ve gotten so far by checking in every day to see what the freebie is are:
They also have awesome prices if you’re willing to pay a little bit for fonts. I like paying for fonts because less people tend to have them, therefore your items are more unique. If you click on the Bundle category you will find great deals on bundles of fonts for one low price. One bundle that I bought was the Bargain Script bundle. For $4 you get 16, yes you read that right, 16, handwritten script fonts! I’ve already used a couple of them many times and love all the extra swashes and flourishes that come with some of them. The retail value of these fonts is $180 so you should probably head over to their site here and check out the Bargain Script Bundle and other bundles they have.
Another awesome bundle they have is the Build your own Bundle. You get to choose 30 fonts for $17!! I had a hard time narrowing down my 30 because they had so many great options. The retail value of the fonts I chose was over $349. These fonts get updated and switched out occasionally so if you see one you want a deal on, you better jump on it before its gone!
The 30 fonts I chose this time (because I WILL be getting more!) were:
I haven’t had a chance to play around with them much yet, but I’ve checked out all their character maps and saw some awesome extra characters! I think its pretty clear I like scripts of all kinds based on what I chose!
Creative Fabrica also has a discount deals category where limited numbers of fonts go on sale for $1.00 each! In the Freebie section you will find fonts, SVGs, graphics, mock ups, and so much more! So even if you aren’t ready to start paying for fonts just yet, you need to check out the ones in the Freebie section. Remember even their freebies come with a commercial license!
Keep an eye out for my post coming soon about how I organize and keep track of all my fonts! To see some of the SVG files I’ve designed head over to my Etsy shop CoxandtheHenCustom!
